We're Never More Like Jesus Than When We Are Serving

This past weekend we shared that in 2015 we are going to focus on how, in Jesus, we are servants. What does that mean? In our membership packet it reads under Servants:
We are servants of God who serve others with our lives because Jesus came to serve and to give His life for us. We will serve others within the body of Christ and the community in which we live.
I truly believe that we are never more like Jesus than when we serve. Mark 10:45 reads, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Though our service pales in comparison to his, for we can do nothing to save ourselves, as Jesus' followers we are called to emulate his character and example. If we claim Jesus as our Lord then we are his servants, if he is our teacher than we are his students, if he is our example than we are his followers. Kent Hughes says of Philippians 2:5-8 that these verses serve "as an example for our hearts." (83) He goes on to write that "serving others is to be the vocation of every Christian, poor or rich." (87)

If you are a Covenant Partner of Grace City Church you have committed to serving, so why not jump on a serving team today! If you have been coming to Grace City for a while and wondering how to connect, let me recommend a serving team. This is a great place to get to know other people! There are many areas where you can serve. Every weekend we have a children's team, greeting team, hospitality team, environments team, worship team, and tech team in which you can live out this identity of a servant! All you have to do is fill out a very quick form on this page or you can contact a specific team leader on this page. Let them know you're interested in helping out! They are ready for you to join!
